I’m thankful to work for Cochlear, the world leader in implantable hearing solutions, most notably in cochlear implants.
The incredible cochlear implant is a truly life-changing device and the most successful neurotechnology available. As far as sophistication goes, the cochlear implant is nothing short of a wonder of the human ingenuity. Just contemplate the fact that a device that is able to restore a sense of the body (hearing) by converting sounds to direct stimulation of the nervous system, is already available today — not in a far sci-fi or utopian future.
This amazing device is safe, biocompatible and small enough to be implanted in people and to stay with them for the rest of their lives! Regrettably, less than 5% of the more than 15 million people worldwide that could benefit from an auditory implant have currently access to it.

The cochlear implant already benefits from decades of growing clinical and commercial success, and I’m very excited about contributing to further developing it to its full potential. As I elaborate in the business article below, I envision that potential may lie in the cochlear implant possibly acting as a precursor to other medical solutions and implantable neurotechnologies (view LinkedIn post).
